5 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE BUYING A WEDDING DRESS
When looking for the wedding dress of your dreams, we know firsthand how difficult the process can be. With millions of styles and designs picking a dress can be completely over whelming! Many questions will go through your head as you start shopping for your dream dress and our goal at Danelle’s is to make this process simple and relaxing. So what makes it easier? Aside from working with an amazing professional stylist, it is important to keep these five tips in mind when buying your wedding dress.
1. KNOW YOUR BUDGET
We all want to find the dress of our dreams, but sometimes it just isn’t as realistic as we’d like when it comes to price points. On average, wedding dresses run from $1000 to $3000 depending on detail, exclusivity and quality. A good rule of thumb is to spend about 10% of your total wedding budget on your dress. This means if you have a $10k wedding budget, look for a $1k dress. When possible, it helps to keep your budget flexible with a $500 leeway. This extra cash can really come in handy for accessories and alterations.
2. BRING SUPPORTERS, NOT DOUBTERS.
A wedding is a celebration of love and relationships and the shopping experience should be no different! You’ll want to plan to bring at least one person to share the special moment with, but the more the merrier! Think of the perks of having a few friends with you on your big shopping day…pictures, outside perspectives, good ideas and most importantly, smiles!
3. BE HONEST WITH YOUR STYLIST
A wedding dress stylist isn’t just another store associate, she is your friend, your supporter and your fashion director! A good stylist can see past the doubts and tailor a look just for you based on her years of experience and exceptional taste! If there is something you do or don’t like, be honest with your stylist so she can better help you find the dress of your dreams.
4. BUY IN THE SIZE YOU ARE AT PURCHASE
Many girls come in with a desire to lose weight before their wedding and will try to buy a smaller dress. Do not do this. Although we may have the best intentions with weight loss goals, it doesn’t always work out on a stressful timeline. Instead, the best idea is to buy your correct size at the time of the fitting and get alterations as needed. BE READY FOR THE MOMENT
5. BE READY FOR THE MOMENT
When you least expect it, the moment will hit you! You’ll step into that gown, it will fit just right and make you shine from inside out. Sometimes one of your least favorite gowns on the rack becomes the dress of your dreams as you try it on. Be ready for this amazing moment when it comes by savoring every moment of this experience with loved ones in a great environment.
